The Truth

Truths For Mature Humans

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.

5. How the h
*ll are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

6. Was learning cursive really necessary?

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

10. Bad decisions make good stories.

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.

17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

21. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974.  That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.     (Ladies.....Quit Laughing.)

My little girl turns 3

Happy Birthday to our dearest Celeste!
Its true what they say...time does go by fast when you are having fun.
As I think back the past 3 years went by like a blink of an eye.
I remember when I blogged about Rj's 3rd Birthday and now it's Celeste's turn.
I remember when you first learned to walk and
making sounds with you shoes @ the Drs
and who can forget
the video Papa made of the day she entered the world
it still brings tears to my eyes.

Here is a montage of pics I made
(first time ever I've done this so its kind of rough but you get the idea.)

We love you Celeste!

God made Little Girls

God made the world with

towering trees, majestic

mountains, and restless seas.

Then paused and said,

It needs one more thing....

someone to laugh and

dance and sing.

To walk in the woods and gather

flowers....to commune with

nature in quiet hours."

So God made little girls with

laughing eyes and bouncing curls,

with joyful hearts,

and infectious smiles,

enchanting ways and

feminine wiles.

And when He'd completed

the task He'd begun,

He was pleased and proud

of the job He'd done.

For the world, when seen

through a little girl's eyes

greatly resembled Paradise.

5 days to go and counting....

The party preparation for Celeste's birthday is in full swing and just like me every year...I didn't really get into it until this week. But things seem to be moving along alright. Yesterday I was stressing about making the birthday garland and water bottle labels. I knew how to do the garland and choose to tackle that first.

Now this water bottle label that I've seen and wanted to use one for the longest time had me scratching my head. I took apart one to measure and I could have made it by hand but that just seemed too time consuming. And then I delved into the world of Etsy.com-Whoa! I should have gone there months ago...so many ideas and only one birthday girl. After wrecking my brain in how to make one in the computer I gave up. Lucky for me my Sister In Law Kat came to my rescue-Yeay!!!

Another relative of mine, my cousin, April is making the cupcakes and the birthday cake...yum. Here's a sneak peak - isn't it cute?!

And the 7 Seven Dwarfs arrived yesterday too...thank goodness for Amazon.com

It's all coming together

One Checked off My Bucket List

It all started with Red Velvet Cake Balls from a Nestie posting on the Nest.com about 2 years ago. I was intrigued and curious, but too afraid to try it out. So I shared the info to my SisterInLaw Kat -she can do it, she can bake. And they were heavenly good.
This is how I discovered Bakerella. I've been reading and following her blog for inspiration and just to see the wonderful yummy treats. I even tried to make the Hello Kitty Cakepops in the hopes of having them for Celeste's 2nd birthday last year. Unfortunately they turned out looking more like a bird vs Hello Kitty ...See!
But they were yummy!
Today was the day I get to meet the blogger that has inspired me to tap into my novice baking skills again. You see her cakepops became a huge sensation and in addition to being in Martha Stewart's TV show she finally has a book about Cakepops...Yeay! When I found out that she had a book coming out I was ecstatic...what just topped that feeling was she was coming to California during her book tour...to South Coast Plaza to be exact....Aaaaargh!!!
As I looked at the calendar, it was on a Monday..and I work every Monday. But I had to try and try and asked and asked people if they could work for me. And thank goodness someone agreed (thank you to Ate Julie).
Sunday night it started to hit me that I was going to get the book and meet the author too. Got the kids ready for school and as soon as I got the last one in, I headed home and got ready. I mean you know the usual-put my face on stuff.
Driving there I was trying to contain myself and found a way to keep my excitement from getting to me...turned the radio on KOST 103.5 and sang my heart out with the songs...LOL! Thank goodness I was alone in the car.
The parking was lot was empty but then again it was only 10ish on a Monday morning. Found a good spot and off I went. Where William Sonoma is located is a familiar spot for me because of Lawry's Carvery (mental note: must eat lunch there later).
From the outside it seemed quiet...

but when I got in...

OH BOY!
There were a lot of people gathered around the register area.
I went around, found the book

and went straight to the register. After paying for it they gave us instructions to go the will call table to get our number so we know where our place will be in the line.
I am number 59...wheee!!
Looking around there was probably a good 50 or so people.
As the time got closer to 12 noon I realized the number had doubled.
Next thing I knew there she was standing smiling at all of us.

I had to make sure I didn't make a fool of myself and scream or yelp or snort.
The first part was the Q&A for anyone that had questions. I was just in awe of all the questions and tips she passed on. No wonder my balls didn't look right...LOL...and they kept falling off the stick!
After the Q & A, we were all instructed to go outside of the store and line up according to our handy dandy numbers. Thank goodness for those numbers. As we all waited patiently and excitedly Bakerella's Mom was taking pictures of us while waiting in line. The staff had us all go in groups of 15 each time. I was wondering how I was going to get a picture with Bakerella since I was alone. I was feeling alittle embarassed to strike up a conversation with the girls around me because from the stories I heard they've all made cakepops more than once and I've only done it once and gave up. My prayers were answered as I entered the store again this time in the book signing line. WS prepared that we would all be bringing cameras and had a store employee assigned to be the photographer...whew! Being a softy as I got closer and closer I felt a bit teary eyed...not sure why...had to go and figure out a way to stop the tears before getting closer. I didn't know what to say, my mind was blank. As my turn was next I just told myself to go with the flow. And I did what naturally came to me when I stood next to her, I went to shake her hands & she in turn gave me a hug! OH MAH GAWD!!! I hugged Bakerella!!! Hehehehe!
We took our picture :)
I still didn't know what to say & was greatful that she knew what to say...she asked me if my name is Hawaiian because part of my name sounds Hawaiian (Mahalo = thank you) And I knew the answer to this question. As she started to write my name on the book I remember hearing myself blurting out something like "I'm probably the only Mahalia you'll meet this side of the Mississippi." How lame is that! Ugh! In any case she chuckled and I said my Thank yous again.
Mission accomplished!
